people. big names including vice president joe biden, his wife jill and first lady michelle obama will fan out across the country as the insurance exchanges go online in a little more than a month. even former president bill clinton is being tapped to help out. he will speak about the law to a crowd in his home state of arkansas next week. let's talk about all this with paul gigot, the editorial page editor for "the wall street journal." interesting, paul, the website, "politico" wrote about this and here was the opening line. three years after signing obamacare into law, president barack obama finally looks eager to talk about it. why now? >> well, because d-day is arriving on october 1st. the exchanges are supposed to start and january 1st, the subsidy coverage begins. so it is do-or-die. they have to do it now or this thing could fail. jon: but the president has been selling us all along on what a great program this is going to be? >> well that hasn't persuaded the country. all polls show obamacare is still more unpopular than popular but now they don't have a choice. he need t

. >> steve: there is another health scare this morning for vice president joe biden's son. the delaware attorney general is waking up in a hospital in houston this morning after feeling disoriented and weak. it happened during a family vacation last week. the 44-year-old had a mild stroke in 2010. he also served a year in iraq back in 2008 with the national guard. this morning he's in houston. >> brian: all right. read this. >> steve: cnn's latest hire being met with strong criticism. they announced courtney sexton has been hired as the senior director for its films unit. she was a main force behind liberal documentaries like al gore's "an inconvenient truth" and jimmy carter, "man from plains." they say the move shows cnn's upcoming documentary on hillary clinton will be one sided propaganda. >> brian: i read now. 9-year-old new york boy won the library club reading contest for the fifth year in a row. instead of being congratulated, he's being told to step aside. the director says tyler weaver hogs the competition and should be banned. that's the winner. the self-proclaimed king of th

joe biden. he is the side kick. it is a perpetual clown show for these people. and, you know, to be fair to jay leno, at least jay was not a complete and total groupy, white washer and lap dog. he did ask him some serious questions. but is this the right venue, especially during a week when national security concerns are heightened, at a time when he's just about to flit off to martha's vineyard and connecting with the average american person. and really there was something else going on because after his appearance, and i pointed this out last night -- the white house admitted that barak obama was meeting with jeffrey katzenberg, one of the biggest hollywood heavy hitters, donors and bundlers for the obama campaign, and guess what? we didn't get to see that broadcast on national tv to see what they were talking about and what they were up to. >> steve: yeah. it is pretty extraordinary, though, given all the news going on and the first hard questions asked by jay leno, because the president, his communications team, the strategy is, keep him away from the white house reporter

rubio and hillary clinton and joe biden but no paul ryan or mario cuomo. >> i just read about mario cuomo, andrew cuomo i guess. we have a debate about it all the time. our reporters are very reluctant to become part of this, the cottage industry of the next presidential election the day after the last one. >> that is our cottage industry and we will stay with that. >> but the reality is we all do it. i think right now it least i've been impressed as an industry and not getting too far ahead of ourselves and allowing it to be the players. paul ryan is not doing anything to really make it look like he is running for president right now. i feel like it probably is but he is keeping a lower profile than rand paul is. and so i think right now certainly most of the reporting that i see frankly has been pretty good about keeping it limited to the people that are made the moves towards that. >> donald trump? [laughter] >> others? >> we started off earlier in this discussion talking about a bio with "the washington post" and with a heritage traditional media site like that one of the things
